چکیده

The real-time manned-unmanned teaming of on-the-move Army assets will provide mobile commanders and warfighters with improved situation awareness from the sharing and fusion of heterogeneous distributed data sources information. Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) is improving situation awareness through three ATL-developed technologies: adaptive, modular, multisensor information fusion; Grapevine agent-based intelligent data dissemination; and agent-based data discovery. These technologies address the three key challenges to shared situation awareness: how to consume data, when to disseminate data, and where to access data. In particular, these technologies focus on the general task of real-time distributed heterogeneous information fusion in highly dynamic ad hoc networked environments. In this paper we describe the three technologies that enable real-time manned-unmanned teaming for shared situation awareness, as well as active research and development of new algorithms and architectures for these technologies.

Modeling Situation Awareness for Army Infantry Platoon Leaders Using Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping Techniques

This paper describes work on the development of an actionable model of situation awareness for Army infantry platoon leaders using fuzzy cognitive mapping techniques. Developing this model based on the formal representation of the platoon leader provided by the Goal-Directed Task Analysis (GDTA) methodology advances current cognitive models because it provides valuable insight on how to effecti...

Modelling situation awareness for Context-aware Decision Support

Situation awareness modelling is popularly used in the command and control domain for situation assessment and decision support. However, situation models in real-world applications are typically complex and not easy to use. This paper presents a Context-aware Decision Support (CaDS) system, which consists of a situation model for shared situation awareness modelling and a group of entity agent...

Use of Situation Awareness Data by the CDA

Situation awareness for ground combat vehicles is being actively developed by the U.S. Army to enable soldiers and commanders to have a better understanding of their environments and hence allow them to fight smarter. The control of hit avoidance assets (sensors and countermeasures) by the Commander‟s Decision Aid (CDA) can also benefit from situation awareness data, either from offboard report...

Shared Situation Awareness Architecture (S2A2) for Network Centric Disaster Management (NCDM)

Having shared situation awareness (SSA) in network centric disaster management (NCDM) lead to virtual collaboration, virtual organization and self-synchronization among people; therefore, having SSA reduces operation cost and risk and increases speed of responsibility and operation and total performance of decision-makers. In this paper, we present a new architecture to provide SSA for NCDM usi...
